What makes Smash Ecommerce unique?

THE PERSONAL TOUCH

Every project Smash Ecommerce takes on will be assessed & designed by me - Rebecca Randle-Williams. It might be that another talented consultant does some of the work on your project, but I will oversee everything to make sure delivery is to the highest possible standard. I have worked in ecommerce for most of my career and would describe myself as a massive ecommerce geek. I set up an ecommerce agency so that I can work and share my passion and experience – not so I can grow a big agency or provide managed services (e.g. running Amazon accounts) on an ongoing basis. There are plenty of great agencies that offer this service, so if this is what you are looking for then I can happily recommend some people to talk to. In fact, I am hoping to work alongside some established agencies and provide an extra pair of hands for key projects or clients when needed.

BROAD EXPERIENCE

I have experience that spans retailers, manufacturers and agencies (Amazon and analytics) – and at the latter I worked with dozens of FMCG and GM manufacturers. This means I bring a broad range of knowledge & skills and multiple perspectives, which I find really helps when approaching challenges and looking for solutions that work for all sides.

STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT

I started at a manufacturer when there was no ecommerce strategy or function. This means I have experience of building out a whole team from scratch, and I have been through the strategy development & deployment process – once for ‘Phase 1’ a few years ago, and once for ‘Phase 2’ once it became clear that the growth facilitated by COVID-19 was likely to stick around! I took the ecommerce channel from 8% of the business to more than 21%, and left the company with a clear view of where the future growth would come from, and how to realise it.

AMAZON - FROM BOTH SIDES

Like many ecommerce consultants I have previously worked at Amazon, which means I have a good grasp of Amazon-isms and know when to challenge and when something really may be non-negotiable. My Amazon experience was so valuable in my most recent employment and helped my team more than double the 1P business whilst maintaining profitability. 


Unlike many ecommerce consultants, I worked for both the Amazon Retail business (as a Vendor Manager) and for the Marketplace business, supporting merchant recruitment, FBA conversion and growth strategies. I believe that as Amazon continues to grow, both in terms of revenue and negotiation power, more and more businesses will look to develop a hybrid strategy to optimise sales and profitability across Retail (1P) and Marketplace (3P). Prior to leaving my most recent role I orchestrated a 3P launch in order to broaden the Amazon selection whilst maintaining the 1P relationship. I remember a colleague in the Global Ecommerce function being extremely surprised that Amazon were supportive of this move, but it is difficult to argue with a strategy that is win-win for both parties and supports continued online growth!

GIVING BACK

I have always given to charity through work and it is important to me that Smash Ecommerce supports causes that I am passionate about. 1% of Smash Ecommerce revenues will be donated to charities working towards environmental solutions.
